Rams held scoreless for first time this season, fall to Milligan 10-0

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. -- The Rams baseball team was held scoreless for the first time this season, resulting in a 10-0 loss to Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Milligan College on Tuesday afternoon at Anglin Field.

The Rams (7-6, 1-3 AAC) were held to just five hits on the afternoon while the hosting Buffaloes (5-3, 1-3 AAC) went for a season-best 12 hits and claimed the victory in seven innings.

Milligan capitalized early against Bluefield starter Kaleb Houchins (0-2), using three hits and a walk to score three runs in the first frame.

Bluefield was retired in order through the first two innings, with Buffs starting pitcher Codie Campbell setting the tone for his squad.

Milligan added a single run in the second before tacking on runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings en route to the 10-0 win.

The Rams only threatened to score in two innings, stranding a pair in the third and leaving the bags full in the fifth.

Sawyer McLamb had two of the Rams' five hits, while Ryan Lawson had one base knock--the center fielder has reached base in all 12 games this season.

Zach Tapia (3.0 IP/3 ER) and Dylan Cole (2.0 IP/4 ER) also threw for the Rams in the loss.

Campbell (2-0) worked all seven innings, leading Bluefield into 13 groundouts while striking out just one.

The Rams will look to bounce back tomorrow, as they travel to Ohio University Chillicothe for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
