WEST POINT, Ga. – The Bluefield College men's soccer team gained its first Appalachian Athletic Conference win of the season with a 5-1 decision over the Point Skyhawks, Saturday in Western Georgia.
Jean-Emmanuel Ahouman had three goals for the Rams while Jan Breitenmoser scored two goals and assisted on two of Ahouman's goals. The Rams are 5-11 overall and 1-8 in the AAC. The squad wraps up regular-season play Friday night at the East River Soccer Complex as they host Concord in a 7 p.m. match.
The BC women faced another close battle at Point as they fell to the Point women 1-nil in overtime. According to Coach Tom Price it was a "Tale of Two Halves" as the Rams controlled the first 45 minutes, but the second half belonged to the homestanding Skyhawks who scored their lone goal in overtime. The Ram women dropped to 5-5-4 overall and 3-3-3 in conference play. The team concludes its regular season Tuesday at the AAC opponent Columbia College.
Women's volleyball split a pair of games at Emory & Henry, Saturday. The Rams beat the host Wasps in five sets, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 19-25, 16-14. Ellen Johnson had 15 kills, Channel Flores 46 assists and Hannah Winter 20 digs. In the second match against Shenandoah University the Rams fell in five sets, 19-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-21, 8-15. Camry McCroskey had 43 assists, Rachel Alley 16 kills and Ashlyn VanDyke 19 digs. Volleyball travels to Portsmouth, Ohio on Wednesday to take on Shawnee State.
Men and women's cross country participated in the Sand Shark Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina at Beaufort, Saturday.
For the men Kendall Haynes finished with a time of 30:02.20 and Cobie Marotske ran the 8K course in 38:02.93. In the women's 5K Anisha Marshall had a time of 23:36.25. Alexis Warner ran a 25:42.83, Keyesta Jones 25;44.30 and Olivia Thompson 30:51.17.
