BECKLEY, W.Va. – Three first half goals put Bluefield College on top of Ohio Christian University and the Rams went on to claim a 9-0 win over the Trailblazers, Monday night at the Paul Cline Soccer Complex in Beckley. The game was rescheduled from earlier this season when weather and darkness kept the two teams from playing in Ohio.
Bluefield took the lead in the 24
th minute on a goal from
Jean-Emmanuel Ahouman with
Joe Stacey providing the assist. The Rams made it 2-nil in the 28
th minute on an unassisted goal from
Nikolai Solomon. Bluefield's final first half goal was scored in the 36
th minute when Stacey found the back of the net on an assist from
Florian Gleissner.
The Rams controlled the first half, outshooting the Trailblazers 14-4. OCU's Roberto Valero had four goalkeeper saves while Bluefield's
Oscar Hernandez had a pair of saves.
The Rams continued the pressure in the second half. Solomon got the hat trick as he scored two goals 18 seconds apart in the 51
st minute to make it 5-0.
Seon Thomas, playing in his first game of the year scored in the 53
rd minute with an assist from Stacey.
Erik Albarran scored in the 64
th and 67
th minutes. The latter goal coming on an assist from
Harry Pilkington. Bluefield's final score came in the 82
nd minute when
Felipe Milanez got the ball into the net.
With the win Bluefield snapped its five game losing skid and moved its record to 4-8. Ohio Christian dropped to 6-6.
The Rams are back in action Wednesday at AAC foe Milligan.
