BLUEFIELD, Va. — Maryah Mazyck scored a game-high 14 points and snagged 10 rebounds as the Bluefield Rams rolled to a 61-44 conference win over Truett-McConnell on Saturday night at the Dome.Â

It was the first double-double of the season for Mazyck. The Charlotte, N.C. native is second on the team in scoring this season.Â

Bluefield (6-9, 4-4 Appalachian Athletic Conference) never trailed, holding the Bears (3-12, 0-7 AAC) to 20.8 percent shooting from the floor.Â

The Rams broke an early 5-5 tie with a 13-0 run sparked by back-to-back three-pointers from senior guard
Jade McDaniel, who finished the night with nine points.Â

The Bears closed within four points in the first minute of the second half with a three-pointer by Monica Hammond, but Bluefield answered with a 17-4 run to put the game out of reach.Â

Whitney Smith scored 10 points for the Rams on Saturday.Â

Destiny Tolliver, Bluefield's leading scorer on the season entering Saturday's game, was held to just seven points on five rebounds while battling foul trouble, but did block six shots on the afternoon.Â

Truett-McConnell was led offensively by a 14-point game from junior guard Helen Simoes.Â

The Rams outrebounded the Bears, 41-39 and forced 21 turnovers on the afternoon.Â
