Â
The Rams moved the ball quickly on their first scoring drive of the game which came in the third quarter. The five-play drive covered 74 yards in 1:33, thanks mostly to a trio of big plays. After a pass interference play on the Blue Hose, Dixon connected with
Rodrell Smith for 16 yards to move the Rams into PC territory.
Â
Dixon then found freshman
Quincey Mock 24 yards two plays later to the right sideline. The two connected once again on the next play, as Mock made a catch at the one-yard line, despite the toss being tipped by a PC defender.
Adrian Pope's number was called for the score, as he punched it in from one yard out. Former men's soccer player
James Gunn made his football debut for the football Rams on Saturday and converted his first extra-point attempt.
Â
BC's second scoring drive took 10 plays, and moved the Rams 73 yards over 3:05 in the fourth quarter.
Â
Dixon's target for this drive was
David Gianesin, who pulled in 30 and 22-yard receptions. The second pass placed BC at the Blue Hose's three-yard line. On third-and-goal,
Justin Brown came through with his first collegiate score on a one-yard run. Gunn tacked on the PAT once again.
Â
Bluefield went three-and-out in the game's opening drive, and the Blue Hose were quickly in action. Two plays later, the hosts were in the endzone, moving 22 yards for the 7-0 lead after the extra point split the uprights.
Â
Marrion Harris had a 12-yard run in the Rams' second series, but BC punted away once again.
Â
The BC defense forced what would be the Blue Hose's only punt of the night on the host's second possession, but the Rams once again went three-and-out.
Â
From there, the Blue Hose gained momentum, scoring a touchdowns on four consecutive possessions--one of which came at the end of the Rams' longest drive of the night, but ended with a fumble at the Blue Hose's three-yard line.
Â
The second quarter drive went 76 yards before the Rams' turnover. A seven-yard rush from Dixon earned BC's first new set of downs on the series. After a false start penalty set the Rams back five yards, Dixon found Gianesin for a 30-yard play, moving the Rams into PC territory for the first time on the evening.
Â
The Rams had a pair of short gains on the ground, then Dixon found Gianesin once again for a 33-yard pass play, placing the Rams on the PC four-yard line. However, Dixon fumbled on the next play and the Blue Hose stomped out the Rams' threat by recovering the lose ball.
Â
PC's string of consecutive scoring drives was snapped at the end of the first half as
Rakeem Smith forced a fumble in his second-straight game and
Anthony Rivers grabbed the loose pigskin. Bluefield ran out the clock and the Blue Hose took a 34-0 lead into the break.
Â
Gunn's true debut came at the beginning of the second half as his first career kickoff resulted in a touchback, taking one hop through the back of the endzone.
Â
However, the Blue Hose began another string of four-consecutive possesions which resulted in a touchdown.
Â
The Rams' first scoring drive came late in the third, cutting the deficit to 55-7, while the second score came late in the fourth to make it 62-14.
Â
The Blue Hose ran one more in to close the game for the 69-14 final.
Â
Bluefield finished the evening with 258 yards of offense, but yielded 678 to the Blue Hose including 526 from the ground game. The Rams went for just 66 with the rush, but 192 in the air—the fourth most since the program's return.
Â
Gianesin finished the evening with six receptions for 126 yards, nearly doubling his 2013 total of 162 yards receiving.
Â
The physical defensive line of the Blue Hose prevented the Rams from moving the ball on the ground, as Harris (23) and Bennett (11) were the only two with double-digit totals. Harris surpassed 1,000 career rushing yards on the evening, closing the night at a total of 1,004 for his career.
Â
Daniel Griffin booted the ball eight times for BC, totaling 354 yards (44.2 avg), with a long of 54 yards. Gunn finished his evening 2-for-2 on PATs and had three kickoffs for 187 yards—an average of 62.3 yards.

Heys McMath tossed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, with Daryl Wilson being his number one target for 94 yards and four receptions including both scoring passes.

Gabe Spencer and
Harry Casseus led the Rams' defensive efforts with 11 total tackles each.
Rakeem Smith also had a big night with seven solo tackles, plus two assists on the night for nine.
