BLUEFIELD, Va. – Visiting Milligan College claimed a 3-0 sweep over Bluefield in Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball action, Tuesday night at the Dome Gymnasium.

Bluefield drops to 1-8 and 0-3 in AAC contests, while Milligan level's its record off at 8-8 and improves to 2-1 in conference meetings.

The Lady Rams raced out to a 5-2 lead in the opening set, but that proved to be the squad's largest lead of the evening.

Milligan used three-straight points to square the match at five and used three additional three-point runs to gain a 14-9 advantage. Bluefield used a small run of its own to bring the deficit back to four, 18-14, but Milligan closed the opening set by scoring five-straight for the 25-16 win.

In the second, the visitors quickly gathered an 8-2 advantage, only to see Bluefield close the gap to 8-5 thanks to in part to a pair of Buffaloes attack errors. But, a variety more multi-point runs earned Milligan a 25-12 win in set two.

Milligan remained strong in the final set and built a strong 20-9 lead after a run of six-straight points. Bluefield didn't go down easy, though, as the Lady Rams battled back with a 8-3 run to close the deficit to 23-17 and force a timeout. Bluefield added two more points while facing match point, but fell in the last set, 25-19.

Bluefield hit just .073 on the evening, led by five kills from
Jasmine Morrow. The senior also tallied 16 digs to lead the team.

The Buffaloes attacked at a .311 clip on the evening, paced my Marissa Langford's game-high 13 kills. Grace Ann Moorehouse tallied 16 digs for the squad's defensive efforts.

Bluefield continues it's AAC homestand on Friday, hosting Union at 5 p.m.
