Volleyball falls in five-setter at KCU

1115GRAYSON, Ky. -- The Bluefield College volleyball team dropped its second five-set decision of the young season, Tuesday evening, as Kentucky Christian University edged out the visiting Lady Rams.

Bluefield won the first set handily, 25-16, but the hosts clawed back to slim victories in the next two sets, 26-24 and 21-25. Bluefield used its own narrow victory, 26-24 in the fourth, while KCU took the deciding set 15-13.

Jasmine Morrow had 23 kills for Bluefield, while Mikaela Hurst added nine of her own.

Kaitie Shaver spread the ball with 22 assists, while Marissa Grice tallied three service aces and added 19 assists.

As a team, Bluefield compiled 14 blocks on the evening.

The Lady Rams now return home for the bulk of their season's contests at the Dome Gymnasium. The next five matchups are at home for the squad with all of them being Appalachian Athletic Conference matchups. Columbia College and St. Andrews are the first two opponents to visit the Dome once again, slated for Thursday and Friday. Both games are 6:30 p.m. starts.
