FERRUM, Va. -- The Bluefield College men's and women's tennis teams swept a Wednesday doubleheader at Ferrum College, winning by margins of 8-1 and 9-0 on the Panthers' Senior Day.
The men's squad opened with a trio of doubles wins.
Carlton Tugman and
Lochlan Kitchen led the way in the No. 1 match, defeating the Panthers' top pair, 8-3. BC's lead went to 3-0 after wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches, as
Markel Aramberri and
Borja Jimenez claimed an 8-5 win in the second contest and
Chas Stonestreet and
James Gunn won in the No. 3 position, 8-4.
The Ram wins kept coming in singles play, as the hosts were only able to capture one singles victory, coming in the No. 3 matchup in a tiebreaker.
Kitchen and Jimenez each had commanding victories, only surrendering one game to their opponent.

In the women's contest, BC shut out the hosts with a 9-0 win to grab their second win in their last three matches.
Casey Germain helped hold the hosts scoreless with a three-set win in the No. 1 singles match. After dropping the opening set 6-4, Germain rolled through the second with a 6-1 win. In the 10-point tiebreaker, the senior came out on top, 10-8.
