CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The Bluefield College baseball team concluded its regular season on the road, Saturday, splitting it's Mid-South Conference doubleheader against the Campbellsville University Tigers at HIG Field. Bluefield claimed a 6-1 win in the 9-inning opener before the Tigers claimed a 4-3 win in the 7-inning closer thanks to a bases loaded, walk-off sacrifice fly.

With the Saturday split, Bluefield concludes the regular season with a 32-15 overall record and a 13-13 mark in conference play. The Rams were voted to finish ninth in the league in the preseason poll, but the 13-13 mark places Bluefield in sixth looking toward the MSC Tournament. The 32 wins is the most during the regular season for the program since 2010 (35).

Game 1
After two scoreless innings, Bluefield took a 1-0 lead in the third. Chris McCollister and Kahlin Villines began the inning with back-to-back singles, while a Zac Russell-Myers bunt turned into a run after a wild throw from pitcher Chris Tuma.

Starter Kenneth Miranda retired the Tigers in order in the third and fourth innings before Bluefield extended its lead.

Tyler Lundgren singled and Tyler Timmer followed with a double to open the fifth frame. A Jacob Schober groundout allowed courtesy runner Tyler Rome to score and another Tiger error on a Sawyer McLamb grounder brought Timmer home for the 3-0 lead.

The Tigers got one run back in the fifth, piecing together a trio of hits in the inning.

Both teams were held in check for the next three innings, before the Rams grabbed some insurance in the 9th.

Villines and Russell-Myers reached with one out, and Lundgren fired a double down the right field line to bring Villines across the plate. A sacrifice fly from Timmer scored Russell-Myers and a Schober single to right plated Lundgren to make it 6-1, Bluefield.

Cory Niten retired the Tigers in order in the 9th for the victory.

Kenneth Miranda (4-4) tossed 6-2/3 innings, allowing just one run on seven hits. He struck out two and walked one while getting 10 groundouts en route to the victory. Cory Niten closed the final 2-1/3 innings, and surrendered just one hit for his third save of the season.

Tuma pitched a complete game for CU, with four of the Rams' six runs being earned. He struck out six and walked two.

Game 2
The Tigers claimed a 3-1 lead through four innings of play, plating single runs in the 1st, 2nd and 4th innings. Bluefield's lone early run came in the second, as Schober slapped a leadoff double to right-center and scored on a Sawyer McLamb single.

Bluefield didn't go down quietly as they looked to improve their seeding for the MSC Tournament. In the sixth, McLamb tallied his second RBI single of game, knocking in Timmer who singled with one out.

Starting pitcher Ryan Shockey retired the Tigers in order in the sixth to keep BC within a run.

With two out, Zac Russell-Myers sent his 10th homer of the season over the center field fence, squaring the game 3-3.

But, the Tigers responded in their last at-bat, loading the bases with one out and getting a sacrifice fly for the 4-3 win.

Shockey went six innings for BC, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out a pair and walking none. Niten came on in the seventh, and took the loss (5-3).

Official final standings and Mid-South Conference Tournament seedings will be announced once released by the conference.
