6-run 6th inning leads BC baseball over Campbellsville, 10-5

Box Score
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- A six-run 6th inning extended the visiting Bluefield College baseball team's 4-2 lead into a 10-2 advantage and the Rams held on the rest of the way for a 10-5 win over Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville University. The win spoiled the Tigers' Senior Day.

Five Rams logged a pair of hits in the game as BC held the 13-9 advantage in hits. Kahlin Villines (2-for-4) notched his ninth home run of the season with a three-run shot in the fourth, while Tyler Rome tallied a two-run single in the 6th for his two RBI.

Jacob Schober, Jacob Wright and Sawyer McLamb each added single RBI in the win.

Zac Russell-Myers tossed seven innings to earn his first winning decision since March 14 when the Rams defeated Lindsey Wilson College. The senior tossed 104 pitches, allowing four runs on five hits, while striking out four and walking a pair. Dylan Cole allowed three hits and one run as the Rams' initial reliever, and Cory Niten closed out the game allowing one hit over two innings.

Campbellsville took a 2-0 lead after its first at-bat, thanks to a home run from Alex Kline.

The Rams then claimed the lead with a four-run 4th inning

Wright's 21st double of the season and scored two batters later on a McLamb single. With two out, Villines sent the long ball over the left field fence, driving in both McLamb and Daniel Copeland--who reached on a walk following Wright's double.

Russell-Myers settled in on the mound, retiring the Tigers in order in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings as the Rams took over the 4-2 lead.

BC sent 10 batters to the plate in the 6th, scoring six runs on six hits and also benefitting from a trio of Tiger errors.

Copeland reached on a wild throw and McLamb doubled to deep centerfield to start the frame, while Rome's single plated both runners for a 6-2 lead.

A Villines single to center which got past the Tigers' centerfielder allowed Rome to score and Villines to advance all the way to third, while a wild throw in for the second inning on the play allowed Villines to score.

Tyler Lundgren and Tyler Timmer provided back-to-back one-out singles to keep the rally moving. A third-straight single from Schober plated courtesy runner Chris McCollister, and a Wright sacrifice fly made it a 10-2 advantage for the Rams.

The hosts cut into the deficit with a pair of runs in the 7th and also added a single run in the 8th, but Niten closed out the final two innings by allowing just one hit to get BC the 10-5 victory.

The Rams close out the series against the Tigers on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
