GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Bluefield College baseball team gave the No. 13 ranked Georgetown College Tigers a pair of strong battles on Sunday, but the hosts used a walk-off hit in both games to hand the Rams two Mid-South Conference defeats.

In game one, the Tigers used a single and a double to take a 5-4 victory in the bottom of the 12th frame, while a one-out, bases-loaded single earned Georgetown the win in the bottom of the seventh of the finale.

GC took the series 2-0, with Saturday's game being canceled due to rain. The Tigers improve to a league-best 23-4 overall and 11-3 in conference play. Bluefield drops its fourth-straight MSC series and stands at 21-10 overall and 6-8 in league games.

Three of the Rams' conference losses have now come in extra-inning games—one at Pikeville, one against Lindsey Wilson and today's defeat at Georgetown.

Game One
The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Jacob Wright slapped his 15th doubles of the year. After advancing to third on a dropped fly ball, Wright was brought across the plate on a Tyler Lundgren single.

Georgetown didn't let the visitor's advantage last long, as three-consecutive two-out hits scored the tying run in the bottom half of the inning.

A two-run home run for the hosts in the bottom of the third gained GC a 3-1 edge, with shortstop Steven Mancilla doing the damage.

Sawyer McLamb reached on an error to start the top of the fifth, with an infield single and sacrifice bunt moving him to third base. A groundout for Jacob Schober provided the RBI and closed the Rams' deficit to 3-2.

Once again, the Tigers responded—this time with Martin Lemus using the long ball to make the host's advantage two.

The Tigers threatened with a pair of hits in the seventh, causing head coach Mike White to bring on Cory Niten in relief of starter Zac Russell-Myers. The senior threw 6.2 innings, giving up a season high 14 hits, but allowed just four runs. Niten came in and struck out the first batter he faced to hold the score at 4-2, Tigers.

In the top of the eighth, the Rams placed two runners on and created some trouble for the Tigers. With Wright and Daniel Copeland on base, a bunt from Tyler Timmer created a wild throw from third baseman Rick Reyes, and allowed both Rams to score on the play and square the game, 4-4.

As the game went to extras, BC was only able to tally one hit in the next three innings.

The Tigers tallied a single in the 10th, went in order in the 11th, and then came through in the 12th for the win. Mancilla led off with an infield single and Tanner Unkel replaced him on the base path as a pinch runner. A David Higuera double to left scored the run for the Tigers' 5-4 win.

Ryan Shockey (5-2) took the loss for the Rams, pitching two innings. Niten threw 2.1 innings in relief of Russell-Myers, giving up just one hit.

Craig Ramsey (4-0) earned the win for the Tigers, allowing just one hit over 4.2 innings of work and striking out six Rams.

Game Two
Bluefield once again posted the game's first run, as Russell-Myers stole second after reaching on a fielder's choice, then scored on a Wright single.

Four hits for the hosts in the fourth inning manufactured two runs, though, giving Georgetown a 2-1 lead.

BC looked poised to regain control in the sixth, as the Rams loaded the bases with no out. Starter Brian Berry walked the next batter to square the game 2-2, but Beau Bowen came on in the jam, striking out the next batter and then forced a double play to keep the score at two-all.

The Tigers once again used late-game heroics to earn the walk-off win. A single and a double started the inning, forcing an intentional walk to load the bases. A pop out ensued, but a single to right from Tyler Coker provided the go-ahead run and the 3-2 win for Georgetown.

Kenneth Miranda took the loss for the Rams, giving up nine hits and three  runs while striking out two in his 6.1 innings of action.

Shaun Meyer held the Rams scoreless in the top of the seventh and took the victory for the Tigers.

Bluefield is slated to return to action on Tuesday, hosting Emory & Henry College at Bowen Field in a single game starting at 6 p.m.
