EMORY, Va. – Jacob Wright drove in five runs with a pair of home runs on Tuesday afternoon as Bluefield picked up a 15-2 non-conference road win over Emory & Henry.

Bluefield now boasts a 20-6 record after the win, reaching the 20-win plateau in the least amount of games in program history (26), dating back to 2004. The 2009 team reached 20 wins in 29 games.

Kaleb Houchins, William Kane, Dylan Cole and Cory Niten combined to hold the Wasps to just two runs, none of which were earned.

The Rams hammered out 16 hits, and were led by three hits apiece from both Wright and Tyler Timmer. Wright led the way with five RBI, followed by three from Daniel Copeland. Tyler Lundgren and Kahlin Villines each drove in two, while Timmer and Braden Freeman each batted in one on the afternoon.

Bluefield scored early and often, posting four runs in both the second and third frames, as well as three in the fourth. Their final four tallies came in the eighth.

Jacob Schober walked and Wright doubled to open the third, allowing a Copeland single to drive in the first two runs of the afternoon. Another double from Timmer advanced Copeland to third and set up a sacrifice fly for Lundgren.

A Villines single drove in Timmer for the final run of the inning. Tyler Rome singled for the final hit, but a double play for the hosts closed the inning.

Four-straight walks to open the third added another run to the board for BC, while a Timmer sacrifice fly made it 6-0.

A Lundgren single brought the next run across the plate and a wild pitch allowed Copeland to push the lead to 8-0.

In the fourth, Wright sent his first home run of the day to left field, driving in Chris McCollister who was hit by a pitch and Zac Russell-Myers who singled through the hole on the left side of the infield to give the Rams a commanding 11-0 lead.

Emory and Henry tallied its sole runs of the afternoon in the fifth inning, while the Rams went for six more hits and four runs in the eighth inning for the 15-2 final. Wright tallied a two-run homerun in this rally, while singles from Freeman and Villines both tallied RBIs.

Bluefield returns to Bowen Field on Friday evening when they open up a three-game Mid-South Conference set against St. Catharine College. Friday's first pitch is slated for 6 p.m., while Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.
