BLUEFIELD, W. Va. -- The Bluefield College volleyball team dropped both of its matchups on Saturday, falling to Bluefield State in four and being swept by Hollins University.
Bluefield State held the upper hand against the Lady Rams for the third time this season, with Saturday's match being the first between the two that did not go five sets.
Bluefield came out of the gates with a 25-21 set win, but the hosting Lady Blues took the next three convincingly, 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.
Jasmine Morrow and
Amber Taylor-Inge each tallied seven kills.
Channel Flores and
Marissa Grice had 15 and 11 assists, respectively.
Morrow added 13 digs on the defensive side and
Ellen Johnson added 10 more. Taylor-Inge had a pair of block assits and added one solo, as BC tallied five team blocks.
Hollins then took the sweep over BC, 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.
Morrow had 12 kills for BC in defeat. She also added 15 digs, as did
Ashlyn Van Dyke.
The Lady Rams return to action on Tuesday, beginning a three-game homestand to close the regular season. Tuesday's match with Montreat ends the team's Appalachian Athletic Conference slate, with first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
