COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Bluefield College men's soccer team took a 2-0 advantage into the half, but the hosting Rams of Columbia International found the back of the net three times, including the game winner with less than two minutes remaining, over the final 45 minutes, to hand BC the 3-2 defeat.
The Rams fall to 10-5 on the season with non-conference loss, while CIU's 2014 mark moves to 9-3-2.
Bluefield claimed its 2-0 first-half lead despite CIU taking the advantage in shots.
Freshman
Nikolai Solomon gave BC a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, sending a shot through CIU's keepers' legs. The lead was pushed to 2-0 in the 36th minute, as
Dean Johnson snuck a shot over the keepers head.
But, Bluefield would be held in check in the second half, while the hosts were able to capitalize on their shots.
CIU posted its first goal nine minutes into the second half and then squared the game with a little over 30 minutes remaining in the contest.
As time wound down, CIU sealed the victory with a goal in the 89th minute from Paul Grandacarpio.
CIU held a 28-17 advantage in shots, as well as shots on goal, 17-9.
