Despite giving up just four runs in two games against No. 19 Lindsey Wilson, Saturday, the Lady Rams dropped a pair of games on the road, 0-1 and 0-3.
Game one required extra innings, as
Aline Uehara and Cara Law squared off in a pitcher's duel. Law went 6-2/3 innings and gave up just two hits and struck out 11. Uehara went the distance for the Lady Rams and allowed just one run, coming on Kristinia Kripinksi's walk-off home run in the eighth inning.
Lindsey Wilson threatened several times in regulation by putting runners on third base, but Uehara and her defense continued to come up with key plays. On two occasions in the fifth inning, the bases were full of Blue Raiders, but BC found a way out of the jam.
In game two, Jordan Hood and Lauren Seibert combined to throw a no-hitter and sealed the sweep of the Lady Rams. Hood pitched six innings, giving up no hits and striking out nine. Seibert finished the game to earn the save.
Uehara pitched all of game two as well for the Lady Rams, giving up the three runs on 10 hits.
Bluefield will host UVa.-Wise on Monday and Shawnee State on Tuesday in their next action. Monday's game with UVa.-Wise is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
