The visiting No. 21 Tigers tallied 14 hits and cashed in on six Bluefield College errors on Friday evening, taking a 12-2, eight-inning victory over the Rams in the Mid-South Conference matchup.
The Rams fall to 13-17, 3-10 MSC, while Campbellsville improves to 21-6 and 8-2 in conference play.
Campbellsville struck quickly in the first inning, tallying a single and a pair of walks to load the bases with two out. Shayne Kelly roped a single to right-center, scoring a pair of Tigers while a Bluefield error brought in run number three and moved Kelly to second.
Bluefield posted one run in the bottom of the frame, as they took advantage of a pair of Campbellsville errors. Zach Russell-Myers doubled to deep right-center with one out and moved to third as
Chris Rosa reached on an error from starting pitcher Patrick McNeel. Russell-Myers crossed home on the next play, as
Kaleb Long reached on another misplayed ball from the Tigers.
Campbellsville tacked on one run in the third, and a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to jump ahead 8-1.
Bluefield added one final run in the fifth frame.
Jacob Wright reached base on a walk, and Rosa promptly drove in his teammate with a double to deep left-center field.
However, Campbellsville continued to add two runs at a time, doing so in the sixth and eighth inning en route to the 12-2, eight-inning victory.
Kaleb Long led the Rams at the plate, batting 3-for-4 and tallying one RBI. Rosa was the only other Ram with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Sean Williams (0-6) received the loss for the Rams, pitching 5.1 innings. McMeel threw 6 innings of seven hit baseball and struck out nine.
