Coaching Philosophy
Dana John’s coaching philosophy centers on fostering a growth mindset, accountability, and a strong sense of individual roles within the team. She believes that athletes should take ownership of their team, establishing their own standards and holding each other accountable. This approach cultivates trust and commitment among players. Emphasizing the power of self-talk, Dana encourages athletes to embrace challenges, reinforcing the idea that one can “be happy with what you have but want more.”

Coaching Highlights and Awards

  • The biggest moments to me in coaching are the small ones that don’t get a lot of attention. The moments when a player who may not see the court for the majority of the season gets an opportunity to play and shine.
    • Senior night in Spring 2024, when Patrick Lundblom, a late addition from the baseball team, made his first kill after earlier struggles, prompting an eruption of support from the entire Dome.
