Rams Fall in Road Doubleheader at Fayetteville State

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Bluefield University softball team dropped both games of a Sunday doubleheader against Fayetteville State at Lamon Street Park.

Game One: Fayetteville State 5 – Bluefield 0

Bluefield was limited to four hits in the opener as Fayetteville State secured a 5–0 victory.

Delana Loflin, Chloe Dillow, Alondra Reeves, and Karter Fortune each recorded a hit for the Rams. BU threatened in the third inning when Fortune singled and Loflin followed with a bunt single before stealing second, but the rally was halted with two runners left on base.

In the circle, Isabella Smith turned in a strong outing despite the loss, allowing just three hits and striking out eight across five innings of work. Fayetteville State broke a scoreless tie in the second inning and added two runs in both the fifth and sixth to pull away late.

Sara Lang pitched the final inning in relief for BU.

Game Two: Fayetteville State 8 – Bluefield 3

The Rams collected five hits in the nightcap but Fayetteville State used a four-run third inning to take control in an 8–3 win.

Jada Jordan, Chloe Dillow, Alondra Reeves, Kenidy Harris, and Olivia Bailey each recorded a hit for Bluefield. Harris provided the highlight for BU with a solo home run in the sixth inning, while Bailey and Jordan each drove in a run.

Sara Lang started in the circle and worked 2.2 innings before Mackenzie Hood came on in relief. Katie Barrett also saw action in the circle for the Rams.

BU returns to action Wednesday, hosting Tennessee Wesleyan for a home doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
