BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Bluefield Rams dropped the series finale to Miami-Hamilton, 15–2, Sunday afternoon at Bowen Field.
Miami-Hamilton broke through in the second inning, taking advantage of a Bluefield error to score four runs and grab an early lead. The visitors added another run in the sixth to stretch the advantage to 5–0.
BU answered in the bottom of the sixth inning. Michael Royston singled to start the rally before Chris Johnson launched a two-run home run to right field, cutting the deficit to 5–2. Sean Cherry followed with a single and Dylan Dotson worked a walk to keep the inning alive, but the Rams were unable to add to the rally.
Miami-Hamilton pulled away in the seventh inning to secure the victory.
Jordan Ramsey led the Rams offensively with two hits, while Evan Leese also recorded two hits including a double. Johnson's two-run home run accounted for both RBIs for BU. Cherry, Dotson, and Royston each added hits as BU finished with eight in the contest.
Nick Duncan took the loss after allowing six runs across six innings while striking out five. Brent Avery, Brandon Poole, Jason Maldonado, Jaden Rose, Tyler Rakes, and Connor Theal all appeared in relief for the Rams.
Bluefield returns to action Friday when it hosts Spartanburg Methodist for Game One of a three-game series. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Bowen Field.
