BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Bluefield Rams fell 10–7 to Montreat in Sunday's series finale at Bowen Field.
BU struck first in the second inning when Cody Crafton launched a solo home run to left field. The Rams added another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Dylan Dotson to take a 2–0 lead.
Montreat answered in the fifth with two runs to tie the game, but BU responded in the bottom half of the inning. Jordan Ramsey singled and later scored on an RBI groundout by Chris Johnson, and Nick Stergiou followed with an RBI single to give the Rams a 4–2 advantage.
The Cavaliers swung momentum in the sixth with a five-run inning, highlighted by a three-RBI double and an RBI double to take a 7–4 lead.
Bluefield battled back in the seventh. After Ramsey and Stergiou reached base, Crafton delivered again with his second three-run homer of the game to tie the score at 7–7.
Montreat reclaimed the lead in the eighth on a two-run home run to lead 9-7.
Crafton led the Rams offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Ramsey recorded two hits and scored twice, while Stergiou added two hits and an RBI as BU totaled 10 hits in the contest.
Nick Duncan started on the mound and allowed three runs over five innings. Brent Avery worked two innings in relief before Gabriel Delvalle took the loss. Noah Burtner closed out the final two innings for the Rams.
BU returns to action Tuesday when it hosts WVU Tech at Bowen Field with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
