Rams Fall in Road Doubleheader at Northwestern Ohio

LIMA, Ohio – The Bluefield University softball team dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader at Northwestern Ohio at Racer Softball Field.

Game One: Northwestern Ohio 5 – Bluefield 1

Northwestern Ohio struck early with a two-run homer in the first inning and added three more runs in the fourth to secure a 5–1 win in the opener.

BU collected six hits in the contest. Alayshia Griffith and Jada Jordan each recorded two hits, while Alondra Reeves and Olivia Bailey delivered doubles. The Rams broke through in the fourth inning when Reeves doubled and later scored on Bailey's RBI double to right center.

In the circle, Isabella Smith worked five innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits. Mackenzie Hood pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief.

Game Two: Northwestern Ohio 10 – Bluefield 2

In the nightcap, the Racers plated five runs in the first inning and pulled away with a five-run fifth to complete the sweep.

Bluefield tallied three hits in the game. Reeves doubled and scored in the second inning, stealing home to put the Rams on the board. Katie Barrett later drove in a run in the fourth inning after Reeves reached on an error and advanced into scoring position.

Sara Lang went 4.2 innings in the circle, striking out five. Northwestern Ohio totaled 10 hits in the contest.

With the losses, Bluefield moves to 1-7 on the season.

The Rams return to action Tuesday with a doubleheader at Alice Lloyd beginning at 2 p.m.
