Bluefield Sweeps Home-Opening Doubleheader Against Ohio Christian

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - The Bluefield Rams opened their home series against Ohio Christian on Thursday with a doubleheader sweep at Bowen Field, taking Game One 12–2 before rallying late for a 4–3 walkoff win in Game Two.

Game One: Bluefield 12 – Ohio Christian 2
BU jumped on Ohio Christian early and never looked back, scoring five runs in the first inning to seize control.

Chris Johnson highlighted the opening frame with a three-run home run to left-center, while Jordan Ramsey added a two-RBI triple later in the inning to give BU a 5–0 advantage. The Rams tacked on two runs in the third, two more in the fourth, and three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Johnson finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs, a home run, and a double to lead the offense. Jordan Ramsey collected two hits, including a double and triple, and drove in two. Nick Stergiou and Cody Crafton each added doubles, while Juan Almonte launched a two-run homer in the fourth.

On the mound, Ryan Cowell turned in a complete-game effort, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six to earn the win.

Game Two: Bluefield 4 – Ohio Christian 3
Game Two featured late-inning drama as BU erased a 3–1 deficit to complete the sweep.

After Ohio Christian scored three runs in the sixth to take the lead, BU responded in the bottom half as Almonte drove in Ramsey to cut the margin to one.

In the seventh, BU loaded the bases before Crafton delivered the decisive swing, ripping a two-RBI double to right-center to score Josh Holland and Johnson and lift BU to the walk-off win.

Nick Duncan started on the mound, and Brandon Poole was outstanding in relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn the win.

The Rams will wrap up the series against Ohio Christian on Friday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Bowen Field.
