Bluefield Erupts in 107-94 Road Win at Columbia International

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bluefield University men's basketball turned in its most explosive offensive performance of the season Wednesday night, rolling past Columbia International 107–94 inside Moore Fitness Center to earn a decisive Appalachian Athletic Conference road victory.

The Rams found their rhythm early and never let it go, shooting nearly 60 percent from the field while placing five players in double figures. Bluefield controlled the pace throughout the contest, building a double-digit lead late in the first half and extending it as far as 22 points in the second.

After a brief early deficit, BU responded with a balanced scoring attack. Isaiah Sanders knocked down a pair of three-pointers, while Ke'Shaun Tonsall and Shaft Clark finished in transition to spark an extended run. Danny Alford provided a strong interior presence on both ends of the floor, scoring on put-backs and controlling the glass as the Rams surged ahead.

Bluefield closed the first half on a dominant stretch, highlighted by back-to-back threes from Lenair Young and tough finishes from Alford, taking a 49–40 lead into the break. The Rams shot 50 percent from the field in the opening half and limited CIU's opportunities with strong defensive rebounding.

The second half belonged entirely to BU. Young caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down four three-pointers after halftime, while Clark and Tonsall continued to attack the paint. Alford capped a 19–6 run with consecutive baskets inside, pushing the lead past 20 midway through the period.

CIU attempted to answer with transition baskets, but Bluefield consistently had an answer. Sanders orchestrated the offense with precision, setting up teammates while converting key free throws late. The Rams shot an outstanding 70 percent from the field in the second half and closed the game strong at the line to secure the 13-point win.

Alford led the Rams with a dominant all-around performance, finishing with 25 points and eight rebounds on 11-of-15 shooting. Clark followed with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while Young added 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Sanders posted 15 points and seven assists, and Tonsall contributed 15 points to round out BU's five double-figure scorers. DeAndre Miles added nine points off the bench.

Bluefield (3–12, 3–6 AAC) returns home Saturday to host Truett McConnell at 4:00 p.m. inside the Dome.
