WALESKA, Ga. — Junior outside hitter Liangelys Santana of the Bluefield University women's volleyball team has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

The Manatí, Puerto Rico native recorded a 16-kill, 16-dig double-double to help BU sweep cross-town rival Bluefield State in straight sets.

Santana tallied seven kills in the opening frame to give BU a 1-0 lead, then added six more kills in the second set. She also posted a .955 reception percentage on 22 attempts.

On the season, Santana leads BU, averaging 5.33 kills and digs per set.

Bluefield opens a three-match AAC road swing at Bryan College September 19 at 6:30 p.m.
