BLUEFIELD, Va. – Bluefield University Vice President of Athletics Corey Mullins has announced the hiring of
Cade Mullins as the next head coach of the Rams women's soccer program.
A 2019 graduate of Bluefield, Mullins returns to his alma mater after two years as the assistant men's and women's soccer coach at Southwest Virginia Community College. Last season, he led the Flying Eagles men's team to a 5-8-4 overall record, the program's best finish since he helped start the program in 2019. Mullins coordinated training sessions, planned matches, and handled team travel and recruiting efforts.
Prior to SWCC, Mullins served as the head boy's soccer coach at Tazewell High School from 2020 to 2022. As the leader of the Bulldogs, he rebuilt the Bulldogs' program by leading them to multiple VHSL Class 2 Region D playoff appearances.
"I'm excited to be back at Bluefield University! It's an exciting place, full of amazing people who are passionate about serving others," Mullins said. "It's an honor to be leading the women's soccer program towards a bright future!"
A native of Richlands, Va., Mullins graduated from Richlands High School in 2015 where he was a standout two-sport athlete, earning All-Conference honors in both football and soccer. At Bluefield, he competed in both sports as well while earning his bachelor's degree in Exercise & Sports Science.
"It is a privilege to welcome home
Cade Mullins as our Head Women's Soccer Coach," said Vice President of Athletics Corey Mullins.
"It is always exciting to see alumni come back to their alma mater and give back to Bluefield. Cade understands what makes Bluefield special and will be an incredible ambassador for the school. His willingness to use his faith as the foundation for leadership and competition is one of the things that made an impact on me. The Women's Soccer program is one that has made such strides over the past three years, and I am excited to see how this program continues to develop under Cade.
Mullins inherits a program that won its most games since 2017 last season. He returns 18 players from last year's roster while bringing in five freshmen this fall.
The Rams open the 2025 season on the road against Rio Grande August 21.
