BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Bluefield University women's soccer team recorded 12 goals during a shutout victory in its home opener at the East River Soccer Complex Tuesday afternoon.

The 12 goals logged in the victory is the most in program history since at least 2009 and is the largest margin of victory on record.

BU wasted no time, as junior midfielder
Sara Dunphy scored the team's first goal of the 2025 season in the 11
th minute, assisted by junior forward
Sara Cox. Just one minute later, senior forward
Ashlyn Newman found the back of the net to make the score 2-0.

th minute, sophomore midfielder
Hazel Parlett connected with Cox for her first goal of the afternoon. Â Sophomore midfielder
Moriah Mingo kept the scoring run going when Dunphy picked up an assist to give the Rams a 4-0 edge in the 21
st minute.

rd minute, this time assisted by sophomore forward Jayme Crawford.

BU closed the first half strong with goals from freshman midfielder
J'Maia Joseph (27') and sophomore
Emily Spaulding (28'), carrying a commanding 7-0 lead into the break.

The Rams wasted no time in the second half, as freshman midfielder
Ireland Hart scored her first collegiate goal in the 54
th minute, followed by Joseph's second goal of the day in the 60th.

In all, 10 different Rams scored in the match, with Cox and Joseph netting two goals apiece. Cox also added an assist to finish with a game-high five points. BU tallied 44 shots, including 26 on goal.

The Rams return to action September 2 against cross-town rival Bluefield State.
