The Bluefield University men's and women's golf teams delivered strong performances at the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout, hosted by Milligan University in Johnson City, TN. Competing against a talented field, both teams demonstrated resilience and skill as they prepare for the upcoming Conference Championships.
Men's Team Places 5th Overall
The men's team put together an impressive outing, finishing 5th overall in a highly competitive tournament. Leading the way was Jacob Mitchell, who shot a 149 over the two-day event, securing 5th place individually and earning a spot on the prestigious All-Tournament Team.

Head Coach Andy Sawyers praised the team's effort, saying, "Our men's team had a great performance at the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout. We hit the ball really well, played consistently throughout a long day on the course, and made some crucial putts when it mattered. This was a tough field, and I'm proud of how we competed."
Women's Team Continues to Progress, Finishes 6th
The women's team also had a strong showing, finishing 6th overall. Lindsey Howlett led the way with a total score of 180, closely followed by Emma Vickers (181) and Savannah Riley (182). Stella Gunter (228) and Lexi Sandlin (266) rounded out the team's efforts.
Coach Sawyers highlighted the team's growth: "Our women's team played well and continues to make strides throughout the season. They're a young group that improves with every tournament, and I'm excited to see their progress heading into the Conference Championships."
With both teams showing great potential, the Bluefield golf program is building momentum at the right time. As they gear up for the Conference Championships later this month, they'll look to capitalize on their recent performances and finish the season strong.
