Rams Go 1-2 in Weekend Series Against CIU

The Bluefield University Rams traveled to Columbia, South Carolina, for a three-game series against CIU, looking to gain momentum in conference play. Despite flashes of strong performances, the Rams fell short, dropping two of the three contests in a tough weekend battle.

Game 1
The Rams opened the series strong, securing a 4-3 win on Friday evening at Miller Field. Behind a solid outing from starting pitcher Bryce Dees, who pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts, Bluefield held off CIU's late-game rally. Moises Aristy provided the offensive spark, delivering a two-run homer in the fifth to break a tie and give the Rams the edge. Despite a few late-inning threats from CIU, the Rams' defense stepped up to secure the victory.

Game 2
Bluefield jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first three innings of Saturday's opening game, capitalizing on walks and errors by CIU. Andres Vega was instrumental in the offensive outburst, launching a solo home run while scoring three runs. The home team surged back with an 11-run performance, sealing the win and tying the series.

Game 3
In the series-deciding game, Bluefield battled but ended up falling to CIU. The Rams put together a 10-hit performance, with Andres Vega again leading the charge, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. However, a big sixth inning from CIU proved too much to overcome.

Looking Ahead
Despite the series loss, the Rams showcased promising offensive production and resilience. They will look ahead to their first home game of the season against Shawnee State on Tuesday, March 4th at 1 PM.
