Bluefield Rams Dominate Carolina University in Season-Opening Sweep

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Bluefield University Rams opened their season with an emphatic statement, sweeping Carolina University in a three-game series at Rich Park. With a combination of explosive offense and strong pitching, the Rams took all three games, setting a dominant tone for their 2025 campaign.

Game 1: Rams 12-3

Bluefield University wasted no time making their presence felt, securing a commanding 12-3 victory over Carolina. The Rams' batters were locked in from the outset, with standout performances from Nick Stergiou, Sean Seale, Ray Garcia, and Andres Vega.

Vega was a force at the plate, smashing two home runs, while Seale and Garcia delivered clutch hits to keep the scoreboard active. Carolina saw brief sparks of offense with solo home runs from A. Delgado and A. Rodriguez, but they couldn't keep pace with Bluefield's relentless attack.

Key moments included a crucial homerun from Garcia in the 8th inning that brought in two RBIs, followed by Vega's ninth-inning bomb that sealed the deal. On the mound, starting pitcher Joe Gaither played a pivotal role, keeping Carolina's hitters at bay while the Rams' offense took over.

Game 2: Rams 8-7

The second game of the series was a thriller, with Bluefield edging out Carolina in a nail-biting 8-7 victory.

Bryce Medlock, Andres Vega, Nick Stergiou, Sean Seale, and Moises Aristy all crossed home plate in a hard-fought game. The defining moment came when Seale blasted a two-RBI homerun, giving the Rams the momentum they needed. Vega continued his hot streak with multiple hits, while Stergiou and Nick Guerra provided key RBIs.

Carolina refused to back down, with C. Lee hammering a 4-RBI home run that kept the game tense until the final out. However, the Rams' balanced attack and strong bullpen effort ensured they held on to improve their record to 2-0.

Game 3: Rams 10-1

The final game of the series saw the Rams assert complete dominance with a 10-1 blowout victory.

Bluefield wasted no time getting on the board, thanks to Andres Vega launching a first-inning homerun. The fourth inning proved decisive as the Rams capitalized on multiple Carolina errors, scoring seven runs to break the game wide open.

Nick Stergiou, Moises Aristy, and Nick Guerra each crossed home plate twice, while Seth Laocki, Aidan Brown, Bryce Medlock, and Vega added to the offensive onslaught. Starting pitcher Nick Duncan delivered a strong performance, stifling Carolina's hitters and maintaining control throughout the game.

Despite a lone home run from A. Noll of Carolina, the Rams never let up. Contributions from Vega, Greenawalt, Aristy, and Medlock in the RBI column ensured that Bluefield finished the series in style, improving to 3-0 on the season.

Looking Ahead

With an undefeated start, the Rams now set their sights on their next challenge—a road series against Toccoa Falls College in Georgia on February 7th and 8th.
