Bluefield, VA – The Dome Gymnasium was electric last night as the Bluefield University Rams took on the Johnson University Royals in a thrilling AAC contest. Despite a valiant effort to mount a comeback, the Rams fell just short, losing 86-84 in the final seconds.
The game was a rollercoaster from start to finish. The Royals established an early lead, stretching it to 14 points by halftime and at one point leading by as many as 15. However, the Rams refused to back down. With relentless defense and clutch plays, they turned the tide late in the game.
With just one minute left on the clock, the Rams were trailing 81-77. A blocked layup by DeAndre Miles and a rebound by Jordan Lineberger set the stage for a pivotal moment. Lineberger pushed the ball up the court, finding Quantavis McKinney, who drained a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 81-80.
The Royals responded with a three-pointer, but the Rams kept fighting. Elijah White answered with a layup, narrowing the score to 84-82 with just 20 seconds remaining. A crucial steal by Justin Wiggins gave the Rams another chance, and White was fouled, sinking both free throws to tie the game at 84.
Unfortunately, the Royals managed to score in the final four seconds, securing the hard-fought victory.
