The Bluefield University Rams delivered a stunning performance on January 15, rallying to defeat the Union Commonwealth Bulldogs 71-63 in a high-energy Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup at The Dome Gymnasium. The Rams overcame a tough first half, where they trailed 33-25 at halftime, to secure a much-needed victory.
Elijah White led the charge for the Rams, delivering a game-high 25 points and nailing a clutch three-pointer that shifted the momentum in the second half. He rounded out his stellar night with six rebounds, two steals, and three assists.
Quantavis McKinney made a strong impact as well, tallying 10 points and pulling down seven rebounds to bolster the Rams' efforts. Head coach Richard Morgan couldn't be prouder of his team's resilience and determination. "I'm so proud of our Rams' second-half comeback! We didn't finish the game in our last outing, so we had to get it done tonight—and we did. It was a great game all the way to the end. Great job, Rams!" Morgan said.
The game was packed with excitement, featuring strategic timeouts and clutch free throws that played a crucial role in the Rams' victory. The win improves Bluefield's record to 4-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play, a sign of steady progress. Meanwhile, the Union Commonwealth Bulldogs fell to 6-10 overall and 2-8 in the conference.
Up next, the Rams hit the road to take on St. Andrews University on January 18.Â
