Rams Struggle in Loss to Campbellsville
Campbellsville, KY – The Rams faced a tough challenge on the road, falling to Campbellsville University by a score of 69-37.
The game began promisingly for Bluefield, as Quincy Robinson forced a fumble on the Campbellsville goal line just two minutes in, leading to the first touchdown of the game.
The Rams held their own through the first half, demonstrating resilience against a strong opponent. However, coming out of halftime, Bluefield went three and out, handing momentum over to Campbellsville, who quickly capitalized by scoring. Shaken by the shift in momentum, the Rams muffed a punt, putting them in an undesirable position for their next possession.
Despite these setbacks, the Rams pushed forward with determination, embarking on a ten-minute drive that cut the score to 35-24. However, Campbellsville swiftly answered, returning another touchdown to extend their lead to 42-24. Unfortunately, after regaining possession, the Rams were unable to capitalize, giving the ball back to the Tigers. Campbellsville took advantage, increasing their lead to 49-24.
The Tigers pushed the ball again, extending the score to 55-24. However, the Rams refused to give up. After a near-fumble that was recovered, they managed to drive down the field and score, making it 55-31. With Campbellsville unable to respond on their next drive, Bluefield capitalized again with a pass from Nathan Herstich to Gage Chambers, followed by a field goal, closing the gap to 55-37..
By this time, it was too late to change the course of the game. The Campbellsville Tigers responded with two more touchdowns, solidifying their victory with a final score of 69-37.
