Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rams Outpaced by Bryan College in 4-1

Kristen Parker

Bluefield, WV. The Bluefield Rams put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell 4-1 to Bryan College in a hard-fought match. Despite the intense energy from the women's game earlier, Bryan's offense capitalized on more opportunities, securing the victory.

The Rams aimed to defeat Bryan for the first time in program history but started the game with some early missteps. A communication breakdown between Bluefield's goalie and a defender allowed Bryan to score just 8 minutes into the match. The game remained competitive until Bryan added another goal with 9 minutes left in the first half, making the score 2-0.

After halftime, the Rams emerged with renewed vigor. Their persistence paid off at the 20-minute mark when Cameron Richter found the back of the net amidst a scramble in front of the goal. Richter's goal brought Bluefield within one, making it 2-1. However, Bryan made strategic adjustments and scored twice more in the second half, sealing the final score at 4-1.

Coach Gabriel Blakman shared his thoughts on the game: "We worked very hard to prepare for this game, unfortunately, it didn't go our way this time. Bryan has always been a tough opponent. We will keep working and leveling up each practice to go again next game and find our first conference win next Wednesday."

The Rams will look to bounce back when they face Montreat College next Wednesday, September 18th.
