Baseball takes two at Milligan

MILLIGAN, Tenn. – The Bluefield University Rams claimed a doubleheader win in baseball action beating the Milligan University Buffaloes 5-3 and 2-1 in Appalachian Athletic Conference action. The wins were coaching victories 496 and 497 for Bluefield head coach Mike White.

INSIDE THE GAME
  • The Rams scored three times in the second. Andres Vega brought home two runs with a double and Graham Dalton brought Vega around with a single.
  • BU increased its lead to 5-0 in the fourth, both runs scoring on a MU error.
  • Milligan scored twice in the fourth and once in the eighth.
LEADERS
  • Vega was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI.
  • Dalton was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
  • Bryce Medlock finished 2-for-4.
  • Tyrone Woods claimed his fourth win of the season. He pitched five innings, gave up two runs and struck out three.
  • Noah Burtner worked the ninth to earn his fourth save of the year.

INSIDE THE GAME
  • Bluefield scored the only runs of the game in the third inning. Vega singled home a run and Johnny Media brought home Vega with a single.
  • Each time had five hits.
LEADERS
  • Gabe Delvalle earned the seven-inning complete game victory. Delvalle did not allow a run and struck out six.
  • Vega was 2-for-4 with a run batted in.
NEXT IN LINE
  • The Rams look for the series sweep when the teams meet for a nine inning contest  Sunday.
