KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Bluefield University men's volleyball fell to the St. Andrews Knights 3-1, Thursday evening in the opening round of the Appalahian Athletic Conference Tournament in Kingsport, Tennessee.
St. Andrews took the opening zet 25-21, and moved ahead 2-0 in the match with a 30-28 win in the second set. Bluefield clawed back into the match with a 28-26 win in the third before the Knights took the fourth 25-10 to win the match and advance to the semifinals tomorrow against top seed Reinhardt University.
Kyle Pietrzak, named earlier in the day to the AAC All-Conference First Team, amassed 24 kills with six digs and a block.
Colby Mutter, named to the Second Team, and playing in his final match for BU collected 14 digs.
Mason Lloyd, also named to the Second Team, had 12 kills and three blocks.
Benedict Somes finished with 49 assists and seven digs.
The Rams under first-year head coach Keven John played to a 9-14 record in 2024, the first season BU played the sport since the 2022 season.
