Mike White got his 500
th career coaching win Sunday afternoon as the BU Rams swept a doubleheader from the Kentucky Christian University Knights, both in walk-off fashion. The Rams won game one 12-2 in seven innings, a game ended by the mercy rule to give White win No. 499. No. 500 came in a wild come-from-behind walk-off fashion 14-13. The wins also gave BU a three-game sweep of their Appalachian Athletic Conference rival.
GAME ONE
BLUEFIELD 12, KCU 2
INSIDE THE GAME
- Both teams scored a run in the first inning. The Rams exploded for six in the third to take control of the game. The big hit was a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double by Andres Vega.
- The Rams added three more in the fifth and walked it off when Moises Aristy lined a single into left to give BU a 10-run lead.
LEADERS
- Aristy had a monster game going 5-for-5 at the plate, with three runs scored, and three runs batted in.
- Johnny Medina, Brady Joslyn, and Vega each had a pair of hits.
- Gabriel Delvalle picked up the win as he pitched five innings and allowed a pair of runs on six hits and struck out five.
- Jaren Woodcock worked the final two frames and struck out four.
GAME TWO
BLUEFIELD 14, KCU 13
INSIDE THE GAME
- The Knights took the lead in the fourth on a home run only to see the Rams plate five in the bottom of the first. Joslyn and Sean Seale each drove home a run with hits and errors allowed three more Rams to cross the dish.
- Joslyn continued his hot hitting with a two-run homer to left. Two batters later Seale smashed a two-run shot over the wall in left to give Bluefield a 9-2 lead.
- KCU whittled away at the BU lead with four in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Knights took a 13-11 lead in the top of the seventh on a three-run home run with two out and two strikes on the batter.
- The Rams donned their rally caps in the bottom of the seventh. Nick Guerra picked up a run-scoring double and another run scored on a play where the right fielder had two errors. With Guerra on third, Matt Beisecker hit a grounded to third that bounded off the KCU third baseman. Guerra scampered across the plate to give Bluefield the win and Coach White his 500th career victory.

- Noah Burtner got the win for the Rams.
- Graham Dalton, Vega, Joslyn, Aristy and Seale each had to hits for BU.
NEXT IN LINE
- The Rams travel to Waleska, Georgia, and open a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference series with the Reinhardt University Eagles, Friday.
