PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Bluefield University Rams baseball team fell in a slugfest to the Shawnee State University Bears 16-15 in non-conference play Tuesday in the Ohio River town of Portsmouth. SSU used an eight-run seventh inning and scored two in the bottom of the ninth to get the win.
INSIDE THE GAME

• The Rams used small ball to push across a run to tie the game in the third.
• BU took a 4-3 lead in the fourth aided by a solo home run by Johnny Medina, an RBI single by Nick Guerra, and a two-run double by Bryce Medlock.
• Bluefield scored four times in the fifth on two-run doubles by Moises Aristy and Guerra to take an 8-3 lead.
• BU added two runs in the sixth on run-scoring singles by Brady Joslyn and Aristy.
• Graham Dalton's sac fly in the seventh gave the Rams an 11-5 lead.
• Shawnee State scored eight times in the bottom of the seventh to forge ahead 13-11, and added one in the eighth to make it 14-11.
• The Rams pulled to within one at 14-13 on Dalton's two-run homer, and took a 15-14 lead on Guerra's two-run single.
• Shawnee State walked it off in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run double.

LEADERS

• Medina, Joslyn, Aristy, and Guerra each had three hits.
• Guerra batted in five runs, Aristy three.

• The Rams return to Appalachian Athletic Conference play opening a three-game set at Montreat on Friday.
