Barbourville, KY – The Bluefield Rams delivered a stunning performance this weekend, defeating the Union Bulldogs 20-7 and spoiling their homecoming celebrations.
From the onset, Bluefield set the tone for the game, quickly moving down the field with impressive passes from quarterback
Brendan Nunnally to a variety of receivers, including
Jordan Edwards,
Gio Burns, and
Marcus Bromley. The offensive drive culminated in a powerful touchdown run from
Abdul Kaloko, who not only opened the scoring but also demonstrated his prowess throughout the game. Kicker
Riley Stubbs, fresh off breaking the AAC record for the longest punt in a game, successfully added the extra point, putting the Rams ahead 7-0.
As the second quarter unfolded, the Rams continued their momentum. After receiving a punt return from
Dayson McMillian, they quickly found themselves in scoring position once more. Stubbs executed another impressive field goal, extending the Rams' lead to 10-0. The Bulldogs struggled to respond, feeling the intense pressure from Bluefield's defense, notably
Quincy Robinson, who made history by setting the AAC record for sacks in a game with 3.5, along with tying the record for tackles for loss with 4.5. Fellow defenders
Titus Holte and
Leyton Fowler each contributed with seven tackles, dominating the line of scrimmage.
The Rams returned to the field after halftime, showing no signs of slowing down. With ample protection from their offensive line—
Termaine Baker,
Kameron Jackson,
CJ Price,
Eli Morgan, and
Jehari Riley—Nunnally connected with his receivers, positioning the team for another scoring opportunity. Kaloko charged into the end zone once again, pushing the score to 17-0 after another successful field goal from Stubbs.
The Bulldogs managed to score their first points of the game later in the third quarter, reducing the deficit to 17-7, but the Rams weren't done yet. The fourth quarter began with Stubbs converting another field goal, finalizing the score at 20-7. Despite Union's efforts to mount a comeback, Bluefield's defense held strong, ensuring the Bulldogs would not score again.
