BLUEFIELD - Bluefield University baseball opened a 6-0 lead and took a 7-4 win over the WVU Tech Golden Bears, Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field. The Rams improved to 7-5 with the win and was the team's fourth win over the Golden Bears this season.
BU took a 1-0 lead in the first without benefit of a hit. The Rams added a pair of runs in the third, one on a Dylan Cutler RBI single, and another on an error to make it 3-0. Johnny Medina plated a run in the fourth with an RBI double and Cutler drove two more home to make it 6-0. Tech scored three in the fourth before Cutler drove home another run in the sixth. Tech scored its final run in the ninth.
Jordan Brown, the third of five Bluefield pitchers on the day, worked the fifth and sixth innings to gain the win. Cutler was 3-for-3 with five RBIs, and Medina was 3-for-4 with a run batted in.
The Rams return to Appalachian Athletic Conference play Friday wien it opens a three-game series at Point University.
