WALESKA, Ga. – The 2023 Bluefield University football season concluded with a 70-27 loss to the Reinhardt University Eagles. With the win, Reinhardt claimed the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship and a berth in the NAIA playoffs.
Reinhardt jumped to a 35-0 lead in the first quarter and led 49-14 at halftime.
BU's Nathan Herstich completed 26-of-53 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Nate Monroe had nine receptions for 124 yards and a score. Jewels Gray caught six passes for 70 yards and a TD, and Christian Mack caught three balls and had a touchdown reception. KeDarrius Phinazee led the Bluefield defense with 11 tackles and a forced fumble.
The Rams concluded the season with a 5-5 record, 3-3 in the AAC.
