Women's soccer wins at Kentucky Christian

GRAYSON, Ky. – The Bluefield University Rams women's soccer team snapped a 46-game winless streak Wednesday afternoon with a 4-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference win over the Kentucky Christian University Knights. The Rams' last victory came nearly three years ago, October 28, 2020, against KCU. During that period BU tied two contests, including one this season. The victory was the first coaching win at Bluefield for Coach Patrick Ritter.
INSIDE THE MATCH
  • Macy McBride got the Rams on the board with a goal in the game's ninth minute.
  • The Knights tied the match in the 28th minute.
  • BU took the lead in the 34th minute on a goal by Lucy Nicely and held a 2-1 lead at halftime.
  • The Rams added two second-half goals, one by Savannah Holmes in the 56th minute and the final score from Mollie Bolton in the 60th minute.
LEADERS
  • McBride, Cox, Holmes, and Bolton each scored goals.
  • Madison Price collected seven saves.
COACH RITTER SAID: "Our team has been getting more and more competitive in games compared to previous years. This game was big for us to take that next step as a program and I couldn't be more proud of the team. We won a large amount of 50/50 balls, and the ladies were the most composed in front of goal that we've been all year. Four different goal scorers today with all of them getting their first collegiate goal. The amazing thing was that all four goals were precise placements around the goalkeeper to show the quality that they can have. We're hoping to carry this performance into future games."
NEXT IN LINE
  • The Rams host Truett McConnell, Saturday at the East River Soccer Complex. Kickoff is at noon.
