GRAYSON, Ky. – The Bluefield University Rams men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night, defeating the Kentucky Christian University Knights 2-1 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match. The win was the first for Rams head coach Gabe Blakman.
INSIDE THE MATCH
- BU took the lead on a goal by Yannik Weiss, his first collegiate goal, in the 43rd minute. The Rams led 1-0 at the intermission.
- Bluefield pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 56th minute by Pedro Visacro.
- KCU avoided the shutout with a goal in the 83rd minute.
LEADERS
- Weiss and Visacro had goals for Bluefield.
- Jake Mendoza had five saves.
COACH BLAKMAN SAID: "It was a rough game on the road versus a good opponent. The entire team fought to the end and we were able to come out on top this time. This is great motivation for the team leading up to Saturday! Onto the next!
