BLUEFIELD - Nathan Thompson's free kick in the 89th minute broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Bluefield University Rams to a 3-2 win over the University of Pikeville Bears, Saturday afternoon at the East River Soccer Complex. With the win the Rams improved to 2-0 on the season.

- UPike took a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first half.
- Devin Calloway put a header into the net to get Bluefield on the board in the 75th minute.
- Thompson tied the game with a goal in the 81st minute. Tanner Gordon provided the assist.

COACH SMITH SAID: Our guys never gave up. We fought hard and our defense kept them from scoring after halftime. We were able to attack late in the game and Thompson's second goal was tremendous. I am proud of the team and their effort.
