BLUEFIELD - Bluefield University baseball opened the 2022 season with a doubleheader sweep of the Carolina University Rams Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field. The Rams took the opener 17-8, and claimed the nightcap 17-7. Eligha Lewis had a strong day at the plate for the Rams picking up six hits and driving home 11 runs in the games.
GAME ONE
The Rams opened a 6-0 lead, scoring twice in the fourth and four times in the second.
BU took control in the fifth on back-to-back home runs by Lewis and Reece Genter. Lewis' was a grand slam, Genter's a solo shot.
LEADERS

• Eligha Lewis 3-for-5 with six RBIs.
• Reece Genter 2-for-5 with two RBIs in his BU debut.
• Max Aristy 2-for-4 with four runs scored.
• David Meech 2-for-3 with two RBIs
• Clay Wisner 2-for-3 with four RBIs.
• Ryan Voss started and allowed two runs and struck out three in four innings.
• Jason Downs earned the win in two innings of work with four strikeouts.

GAME TWO
After a 7-7 tie in the third inning, Bluefield scored 10 unanswered runs to take the nightcap.

• Bryce Medlock 3-for-5 in BU debut.
• Clay Wisner, Max Aristy, and David Meech each had a pair of hits.
• Ben Coffman, the middle of three pitchers earned the win working two innings and allowing two hits.
• Tyler Lowrey pitched the final two frames and struck out three.
