Rams shoot down Alice Lloyd 17-7

BLUEFIELD – Bluefield College wrapped the home portion of the 2021 season with a 17-7 non-conference win over the Alice Lloyd College Eagles in a run-rule, walk-off fashion Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field.
The Rams jumped ahead with six runs in the third and never looked back. BC held an 11-run lead headed into the top of the seventh, but ALC scored four times to extend the game. The Rams scored three in the bottom of the inning to invoke the 10-run mercy rule. The game-ending run scored on a single by Elianel Mejia.
The Rams rapped out 17 hits in the contest, led by David Meech, who was 3-for-4. Jeremie Garcia, Nate Cobb, Mejia, Elijah Ervin, and Anderson Xapsos each had two hits for BC. Mejia knocked in three runs, including the game-winner, while Garcia, Cobb, and Taylor Meaux each drove in two. Meaux's came on a two-run homer.
Spencer Ambrose, the second of three Bluefield College pitchers earned the win. Ambrose pitched two innings, allowed one run and struck out five.
The Rams conclude regular-season play Thursday and Friday with a three-game series at Columbia International.
