Nunn better

BLUEFIELD - Taylor Nunn tossed a four-hitter to lead Bluefield College Softball to a 1-0 win over Columbia College in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader at Graham Rec Park.
The Rams scored the game's only run on an error in the fifth inning. Columbia pitcher Gabby Lawrence held BC to two hits. It was the second game of the day where the losing pitcher limited the opposing team to two hits, and the second 1-0 game of the afternoon.
Nunn was strong in the circle for the Rams as she pitched all seven innings and struck out five.
"Nunnsie, she has been stepping up big time," said BC head coach Sam White. "We had a couple of injuries and have only been using her in spots, like to get a ground ball to finish off an inning, and she has absolutely relished the role of starter and she has been splitting some games with JT (Jocilyn Thompson). I am very proud of her. Even when she is behind in the count we feel like she's in control,  can get us a ground ball, can get us an out somewhere. She does a great job pitching to contact where the defense is set up."
