Lions slide past Rams

BLUEFIELD – Bryan College used the long ball to come from behind and defeat Bluefield College 5-1 in the opening game of an AAC doubleheader, Wednesday afternoon at Graham Rec Park.
The Rams took the lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Kenzie Lambert. Bryan tied the game in the top of the third and it remained knotted until the top of the fifth when the Lions Brook Belflower hit a grand slam home run to give Bryan a 5-1 lead. The Rams could not push across any further runs in the last three innings.
Lambert and Gabrielle Melick led Bluefield at the plate, each going 2-for-3. Lambert had an RBI. Jocilyn Thompson pitched a strong game for the Rams, tossing a complete game and allowing only five hits while striking out five.
