Rams zap Golden Bears

BLUEFIELD – Baseball put on a slugfest Wednesday night at Bowen Field and defeated West Virginia Tech 14-7 in a non-conference game.
Tech's first four batters of the game got hits and scored, including back-to-back home runs to take a 4-0 lead. The Rams responded in the bottom of the inning with seven runs to take the lead it would not relinquish the remainder of the night.
Nate Cobb had a hot night for Bluefield, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Ozzie Millet and David Meech were both 2-for-4. Millet had a double, and Meech a triple. Eligha Lewis drove home four runs and Taylor Maldonado knocked home two.
The Rams used five pitchers and the win went to Zach Powell, the fourth hurler of the night. Powell pitched two innings and allowed one hit and struck out one. Starter Jason Downs pitched two innings and struck out four.
The Rams travel to #15 Bryan for an AAC series beginning on Friday.
