Walk-off win for Rams

BLUEFIELD - Bluefield College baseball raced home with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Montreat Cavaliers 7-6 Saturday evening at Bowen Field in AAC play.
The teams battled back-and-forth for the first seven-and-a-half innings and Montreat held a 6-5 lead going into the bottom of the eighth. The Rams tied the game when Anderson Xapsos reached on a bunt single, and later scored on a single by Ozzie Millet. The Rams won the game in the ninth when Taylor Meaux led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. He went to second on Eligha Lewis' sacrifice bunt, took third on a wild pitch, and scampered home on a passed ball to end the game.
"I'm excited for the guys. It was a good win," said Rams head coach Mike White. "We had a lot of guys play well and we battled. That was a very good college baseball game."
Tyler Lowrey pitched the final two innings for BC to earn the win. Ryan Voss started and pitched six innings. Kody Gardere worked one inning.
Xapsos and Nate Cobb were both 3-for-4 to lead the Rams at the plate. Millet was 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
The two teams wrap up the series Sunday with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00.
