Rams win conference opener at Union

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Baseball opened the Appalachian Athletic Conference season with a come-from-behind 5-2 win at Union in the opening game of a doubleheader, Thursday afternoon.
The Rams took the lead in the season inning when Taylor Meaux, after reaching on a Union error, later crossed the plate thanks to another Bulldogs error to make it 1-0. Union scored a pair of unearned runs off BC starter Ryan Voss in the third to rake the lead. The Rams charged back and scored four in the seventh to retake the lead. David Meech led off the frame with a double and tied the game on an error. Joseph Cardona walked and Max Aristy came on as the courtesy runner. Aristy scored on Jeremie Garcia's hit, and Garcia later scored on a double by Clay Wisner.
Ryan Voss started on the mound for Bluefield College and worked five innings, allowing only three hits and picking up five strikeouts. Tyler Lowrey pitched the sixth and picked up the win. Justin Coleman closed the game with a perfect seventh and picked up one strikeout.
Garcia led Bluefield with a pair of hits and an RBI. Nate Cobb, Wisner, and Cardona each added a run batted in.
Head coach Mike White commented on the victory.
"Ryan Voss had a quality start. The bullpen with Tyler Lowrey and Justin Coleman had shut down innings, with Coleman etting the save. Jeremie Garcia led the offense with his two hits."
